A South Station Farewell

Family

Everyone was up early and out of the house by 7AM headed to Shawmut and a Red Line ride to the Amtrak terminal at South Station. At nineteen months Linus is in incredible awe of the “big trains” and totally unaware that when Nana and Grandpop get onto one of the trains for their long long ride that they won’t be going back with him to the house to draw or build with castle blocks or to read books. The next visit will “on the computer.” It’s been a glorious visit and we’ve truly enjoyed being with Greg, Rachel, and Linus for a few days to share a bit of their lives and enjoy beautiful Spring weather in New England!

After we left the train platform and Linus couldn’t see the trains any more he started saying “Bye Bye Nana and Grandpop!”

It was a wonderful visit, full of tasty food and good conversation. Have a safe trip home and we’ll see you soon “on the computer”.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
