The Sylva Herald

Family

The Sylva Herald is a treasured part of life in Jackson County. It chronicles local events and features local history and lore as well. Although this weekly newspaper is a source of Nineteenth and early Twentieth Century history it’s definitely a Twenty-First Century publication with its online presence. Our long time friend and neighbor, Lynn Hotaling recently retired from her position as editor after thirty-one years on the staff.

Today’s edition features two treats. The front page article details a new discovery in the world of zoology made by a team that includes Lynn & Richard’s son Scott Hotaling, a graduate student at the University of Kentucky. The other is a banner across the front page of one of the sections declaring “The Ebbing Herald” in honor of the movie whose filming has been dominating life in downtown Sylva recently!
