Neil & Vi

Family

No trip to Cincinnati is complete for us without a visit with Steve’s uncle and aunt. They are special to us in so many ways. Neil is Steve’s godfather and a surrogate father. Vi was so welcoming to Karen when she spent a summer in Cincinnati just after we two became engaged. Both of them responded to our family history questions with an amazing wealth of information and pictures. Today we enjoyed lunch with them and their son, Tom. It was a wonderful visit!

After we hugged them and climbed into our truck we drove the short distance to Madisonville to see their family home one last time while it’s still in the family. They moved their young family into this house sixty-six years ago this summer. Several years ago their grandson Brian bought it and fixed it up. With the neighborhood increasingly desirable, he and his wife have taken the opportunity to sell and are now actively looking for a new home for their own young family. So many memories! So many opportunities!

We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
