Lehman’s

Road Trip

Lehman’s is an amazing place!  It started back in 1955 as a hardware store serving the Amish community here in northwest Ohio. Today it’s an amazing retail store offering a variety of goods both here and online. For us today a trip here was a drive through a beautiful countryside and a chance to purchase a few items that may enhance our life but it also was an excuse to escape the heat for a few hours and enjoy the company of friends as we explored the Lehman’s array of goods. Maybe next time we’ll explore the original hardware store.

And an Amish buggy in the parking lot of the grocery and restaurant next door!

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
