The Pokegama Dam

2016 Out West, Minnesota, Road Trip

Once we decided to make a stop in Grand Rapids, we needed to find a campground. The Allstays app revealed a COE campground nearby and with a couple of phone calls we managed to reserve the last available site for just one night. With a classic car show coming up the campground is sold out for the weekend. We would have loved to stay longer, the place is delightful.

The Army Corps of Engineers first constructed this Mississippi Headwaters dam in 1884. We enjoyed walking across the dam and watching the water rushing through the open gates.

And there was a gorgeous sunset that invited us to take one more walk this evening!

Cozumel & Grand Cayman

Cozumel & Grand Cayman

Aboard the Norwegian Jewel we’ve made stops in Cozumel, Mexico and Georgetown, Grand Cayman to explore beyond our previous experiences here. Soon we’ll be making our way to ports we’ve not yet explored in the Southern Caribbean.

Winter Magic in Medina

Winter Magic in Medina

By deliberate choice we were in Medina for all the winter holiday festivities from Candlelight Walk in the days before Thanksgiving through A Christmas Carol and A Celtic Christmas as well as an Alex Bevan Concert and a historic house tour all the way through Medina’s 31st Ice Festival but perhaps the highlight was the town hosting hundreds of folks whose homes and lives were devasted by Hurricane Helene at the A Promise of Christmas Event the middle of January. It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing community!
