The Art Deco skyscraper that is the North Dakota state capitol building sits on a amazing expanse of parkland in Bismarck that is home also to the North Dakota Heritage Center. Wow! They do an amazing job of telling the story of the place we now call North Dakota from the time it was part of an inland sea to present. They have a mummified dinosaur, a number of fine dinosaur skeletons, and other fossils, a gallery telling stories of the Native Americans that inhabited the area, and stories and artifacts of the pioneers. Way more than we could possibly assimilate in one visit. After that we enjoyed the grounds for a bit before participating in the mundane of running errands and doing laundry.
