Our plans to soak in some natural hot springs this morning were thwarted by a routine temporary closure. Darn! Our muscles are begging for a session in hot waters. However that gave us the opportunity to get an early start into Eugene where we were successful at getting a walk-in site at Richardson County Park on a Ducks Football weekend!  We did a set up with attached tent on Site #2 complete with the Coleman cot which will be our guest bed for the next several nights. Then into  town for a few errands: routine maintenance on the truck, a car wash, a pharmacy run, a few groceries, and flu shots! Back at the T@B we ate up the ice cream before it could melt, made some decaf, then put together a version of a taco salad without the tortilla. Still have a lot of organization yet to do this evening but for now it’s time to sit, eat, and enjoy the quiet of the campground.

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

London’s Canals

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
