Last night we set up on Site C-10 for two nights in the El Chorro County Park after being unable to find the campground we’d initially picked out on our Allstays app. It’s a pleasant place though not quite as convenient for our major purpose for coming to SLO and that’s to get new rear brakes for Eric. We contacted Perry Ford last night and Jesse promised that he’d work us into the schedule and even offered us a shuttle ride the five miles back to the T@B. As it worked out we spent a couple pleasant hours in the waiting being regaled with tales of life in California in the entertainment industry in the 1960s and 70s by one Robert Applegate.  He didn’t tell us about his daughter’s episode on Who Do You Think You Are? We discovered that later while googling him!

Once the pads and rotors were installed we made our way to Margie’s Diner where we shared a monster salad then to Ralph’s to restock the larder. Bonus! Ralph’s is part of the Kroger family so we snagged a pint of Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chip! After a quiet afternoon we spent a pleasant evening with Dennis and Marina sharing libations, snacks, and travel stories. Although we didn’t explore the cool history of SLO and its mission, this stay has been a good chance to start getting back into our groove after a most exciting interlude with Lou!

Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
