Today started early when Lou got going for her first day back to work then Megan visited with us for a bit before heading in for a teacher planning day. When we finally got going we headed over to Pearl Cafe for a brunch and lingered for a while. Checked out Kohl’s and Target but couldn’t find what we were looking for. Did find a geocache in Klein Park. After a visit to Verizon where we learned they were already sold out of the new iPhone7, we went to Goldilocks Bakery for coffee and dessert and lingered for a while there before heading back to Lou’s. After work she and Meg joined us for a walk to Castro Street, Mountain View’s Restaurant Row, where we found a geocache then continued on for just a few more steps to LaFontaine for a wonderfully leisurely dinner of Beef Wellington accompanied by wine and finished with Tiramisu (3.5/5) and a complimentary Ruby Port. A nice finale to a fun week with Lou and a nice weekend visit with Meg!

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Over a long weekend we sampled some of the myriad things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, unique among national parks for it’s environmental reclamation, historic preservation, and recreational opportunities adjacent to the populous cities of Cleveland and Akron in northeastern Ohio. Can’t wait to return and explore more.

Slow Journey Home

Slow Journey Home

Our journey from Portsmouth, England to our home in Ohio might have been accomplished in about sixteen hours but my avoiding air travel we were able to enjoy a fifteen day journey home via train, ship, Uber, train, as well as our own feet and finally our personal vehicle.

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

It’s been a fascinating two day visit to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. We managed to pack in tours of the HMS Warrior, the HMS Victory as well ast Victory Live: The
Big Repair, and finally the Mary Rose. All were incredibly informative and well presented.
