The Oxnard Cousins

Family

On our Honeymoon in September 1973 the two of us visited Karen’s Great Aunt Jo on her 70th Birthday at her home in Oxnard, California. That day 43 years and 9 days ago, we met her daughter Joanna. We’ve stayed in touch through the years, through Christmas cards and occasional phone calls. Today she welcomed us to her new home in Camarillo, near her longtime home of Oxnard, where we visited with her brother, Dal, his wife, Lois, and Joanna’s husband, Howard. Karen’s Dad and his family lived on a farm in Ohio with Joanna, Dal, and their family in the late 1930’s. We enjoyed tales from that era and spent some exceedingly pleasant hours catching up on each other’s lives. Oh, that the visit could have been longer, but it’s good to know that we will continue to stay in touch!

We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
