Rockin’ & Rollin’ and Murals in Cuba

2016 Out West, Missouri, Road Trip

This is a perfect example of the cool spots we find while geocaching. The World’s Largest Rocker was a Guinness record holder from 2008 to 2016! It sits along Route 66 near the Fanning Feed Store which just recently closed for good but which sports a delightful Route 66 themed mural on its side.

Cuba had been on our radar for its murals.

We enjoyed house made Corned Beef Hash for Sunday Brunch at Frisco’s Grill & Pub and checked out a mural or two

but there’s still a lot of things to do in Cuba, including a 1931 Route 66 gas station! Before we left the area we backtracked a couple of miles to find tne rocking chair geocache and drop off a travel bug.

In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
