The Familiar & the New

Family

It seems we’re pretty much settling into familiar routines during this interlude at Tween Creeks. We’re working on projects at the house aimed at organizing and streamlining our lifestyle to make things work even better when we are on the road. We’re getting together with friends; dinner and wine with Mary & Steve on Friday, a party with many of our friends in Maggie Valley on Saturday, and dinner with Stan & Mary after the knitting guild meeting on Sunday. But Sunday’s dinner wasn’t at any of the familiar eateries we generally frequent. Instead we dined at the Boojum Taproom on Waynesville’s Main Street. Good beer and good food! Then on a whim we wandered into The Strand for ice cream where we chatted with Scott who told us about the rehabilitation of this historic downtown theater. While we were talking, the movie ended and he allowed us to walk back and take a peek at the theater area. By the time we left we were making plans to take in a movie there next weekend!

Burgh House Hampstead

Burgh House Hampstead

Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
