Living in an Amtrak roomette makes us appreciate how palatial our T@B is. In our roomette we have two seats that convert into a lower bunk, an upper bunk that raises up to the ceiling when not in use, and a half bath all packed into about twenty-one square feet. It’s bright and airy despite its coziness and has ample headroom but like in the T@B we have to think through and communicate with each other about every move we make. It’s a great way to travel. We’ve had a good night’s sleep (though it would have been better if we’d known where the thermostat was) and a delicious breakfast. Now we’re poised for a quick transfer to our Boston bound train in Washington DC in about 15 minutes. This is not the original plan but this train is more than two hours behind schedule. At WAS the two trains are on adjacent tracks but if we go all the way into NYP, we won’t have enough time to make the transfer and the next train to BOS isn’t for an additional three hours. Wish us luck!
The Hidden London Tour
On the Hidden London Tour today we visited a number of curious places relating to the history of public transportation hidden in plain sight.
No luck this time. We missed the train to Boston by less than a minute. Apparently at Alexandria a departing coach passenger made a scene and delayed us by five minutes!
Ugh, hopefully you’re on the move now and arriving safely shortly!
