A Shoe Tree Adventure

2017 New England, Indiana, Road Trip

Two days ago neither one of us had a burning desire to throw a pair of old shoes into a tree in the middle of the woods in Milltown IN, but after doing so today, it feels like we have accomplished a bucket list item. As we were leaving Bloomington yesterday we checked our Roadside America app. The Legendary Shoe Tree in Crawford County appealed to us since we were traveling with a pair of shoes that Steve had just replaced. So today as we left our campsite at Buffalo Trace we set our GPS for the shoe tree coordinates. Half an hour later we were slinging a pair of well worn Merrells onto a limb and logging our find in the nearby geocache.  By our rules we are now qualified to place an Indiana sticker on the new map we plan to get and put on the side of our new camper. The adventure has commenced!

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
