Lebanon is an Ohio town that we’ll readily admit we knew little about other than it’s northeast of Cincinnati near I-71. After we arrived on Thursday we watched this Ohio Magazine video and decided that we must spend some time exploring the area. This morning we started with parking in one of the free lots downtown then breakfasted at Royce Cafe before browsing myriad gift shops. Of course we had to wander into the Carnegie Library, since one played an important part of our personal history. And The Golden Lamb! We entered through the gift shop where we learned that visitors are welcome to go throughout the inn. There are displays and museum rooms in various places. Many of the rooms are named for famous visitors. We spotted the Ulysses Grant Room. We plan to return for a meal at this 214 year old inn but today we chose to eat Buckeye Fever ice cream at The Village Parlor!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
