Pork Chop at Patti’s

2017 New England, Kentucky, Road Trip

If you visit Grand River’s KY, it seems a visit tp Patti’s 1880 Settlement is a must. We were warned we should make reservations but didn’t. Turns out our wait wasn’t too long. An online reservation though would have been quite easy to make. We also were warned about the serving sizes and did pay attention there. We split Patti’s signature entree, The 2″ Pork Chop. After the Fried Dill Pickle appetizer, the salads, and the amazing Flower Pot Bread with Strawberry Butter, we were really grateful we chose to share. There wasn’t room for dessert. No worries. We ordered the Boo Pie to go. We’ve got enough food for another dinner and dessert! The food was fabulous. The service efficient. The decor a bit overdone. The atmosphere noisy. We might return but would try for mid afternoon time slot when perhaps it might not be so busy.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
