Smokin’ and Chillin’

Family

Through the course of this visit Phil has cranked out some amazing meals on his new Weber Grill. One night it was Chicken Wings and Grilled Vegetables. Another night we feasted on Grilled Chiorzo in a wonderfully savory sauce wrapped in a toasted flatbread. Yesterday he dry brined the beef chuck. Early this morning he set the grill up as a smoker and has been tending the fire all day long. As the beef neared doneness he wrapped the roasts in butcher paper. It holds in moisture while still allowing smoke to penetrate. CJ meanwhile enjoyed the opportunity to curl up in the recliner and immerse herself in a classic mystery. She’s been reading a recently acquired copy of the Nero Wolfe tale “Too Many Cooks” by Rex Stout while Phil been preparing the food. Then longtime friends , Nate & Desiree, arrived to enjoy the fabulous smoked beef tacos that was our Fourth of  July Feast! Fabulous food, Phil!

Burgh House Hampstead

Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
