Clam Box & Hodgie’s Two

2017 New England, Massachusetts, Road Trip

On our way back to Black Bear Campground we decided to indulge ourselves in a classic New England meal. In Ipswich we stopped at The Clam Box, a local institution, and ordered a Native Clams meal. While we waited to pick up our food at the counter a dining room table opened up. We lingered, savoring the delicious clams while we watched the folks who’d come on the tour bus clear out. This may have bee the same restaurant in which we feasted on Ipswich clams when we traveled through here in 1975. It certainly was here at the time. Then we headed to Hodgie’s Too, another local institution almost next door to the campground. Our neighbors had recommended the place and sure enough we saw them with their grandsons there getting a pre-dinner dessert. If you go, know that the servings are huge! The quarter kiddie is more than a pint of ice cream, delicious premium ice cream. Yummy!

Mmmmmm, this is one of my favorite places to eat. It was in my neighborhood. Now, I can no longer say that but will return to eat here at some point.

Cozumel & Grand Cayman

Aboard the Norwegian Jewel we’ve made stops in Cozumel, Mexico and Georgetown, Grand Cayman to explore beyond our previous experiences here. Soon we’ll be making our way to ports we’ve not yet explored in the Southern Caribbean.

Winter Magic in Medina

Winter Magic in Medina

By deliberate choice we were in Medina for all the winter holiday festivities from Candlelight Walk in the days before Thanksgiving through A Christmas Carol and A Celtic Christmas as well as an Alex Bevan Concert and a historic house tour all the way through Medina’s 31st Ice Festival but perhaps the highlight was the town hosting hundreds of folks whose homes and lives were devasted by Hurricane Helene at the A Promise of Christmas Event the middle of January. It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing community!
