This morning we broke camp and pulled the trailer into Gettysburg and along Confederate Avenue. First we stopped at an artillery position and spent some time chatting with a Confederate costumed interpreter before heading to the Gouverneur Warren monument on Little Round Top where we met up with Ranger Troy Harman and spent the next hour learning about Confederate attack of the Union left flank and the factors that contributed to the Union’s successful defense of Little Round Top on July 2, 1863. We must say we are incredibly impressed with the depth of knowledge these NPS rangers and interpreters have and their ability to convey the complexity of history in a way we can understand!
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Over a long weekend we sampled some of the myriad things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, unique among national parks for it’s environmental reclamation, historic preservation, and recreational opportunities adjacent to the populous cities of Cleveland and Akron in northeastern Ohio. Can’t wait to return and explore more.
