Although it doesn’t look like much from the exterior, our visit to Roadside America Miniature Village near Shartlesville, Pennsylvania, truly was a visit into wonderland. This magical place is so much more than one miniature village, it’s a vast collection of handcrafted miniature villages originally created merely for personal and family enjoyment then eventually opened to the public. It is still owned and run by the originator’s granddaughter. We wandered through marveling at the skillful craftsmanship. Having some personal experience with modeling we were especially wowed at the intricacy and detail of this trip through our nation from Native American villages to 1950’s small towns. And, yes, we learned about it from the Roadside America app!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
