The Greatest Generation

Family

Any reference to The Greatest Generation has always brought Uncle Neil to our minds. He was raised during the Great Depression. He was drafted into the US Army nine months before Pearl Harbor. He fought for our freedoms from North Africa to Berlin. He celebrated VE Day in Europe, was Honorably Discharged after VJ Day and married his sweetheart one month later. Together they raised five remarkable children and served as incredible role models to a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Last year they celebrated their 71st Wedding Anniversary! Neil’s service to his family, his community, and his country deserves to be remembered. Today we honored this great and humble man who went to his eternal reward just four days before his 98th Birthday. Thank you, Uncle Neil! We will continue to tell your story.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
