Stopping by woods on an autumn day, we hobnobbed with the spirit of the poet at The Frost Place in Franconia NH. Robert Frost purchased this house and farm from a local family in 1915 and sold it back to them in 1920. Of the myriad places he lived, from San Francisco to London to Michigan, this spot in the White Mountains of New Hampshire best reflects his New England spirit. In 1976 the community of Franconia purchased the former Frost home from the– family and created a non-profit educational center for poetry and the arts and educates the public about the person and the work of Robert Frost.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
