A Vermont Welcome

2017 New England, Road Trip, Vermont

We crossed the border from NY and drove north with the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain on our left and the Green Mountains on our right. One of our first adventures in Vermont was to take the T@B-400 over/through a covered bridge thanks to a Maps app offer to route us around rush hour traffic on Highway 7. In Shelburne we settled into our site before making the short trip into South Burlington for dinner with friends Jane, Jean Elizabeth, and Rich. It was a warm welcome from the get go, a reunion with Jane and JE, and a getting to know you with Rich not to mention the delicious dinner followed by homemade pie. Just don’t ask about the Fascinating Facts Game!

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
