Sunshine State

Caribbean, Florida, Road Trip, States

There’s something special about a mid-winter break. Yes, winter is a lovely time to be at our mountain house. We enjoy the quiet, the lovely scenery of our dormant woods whether blanketed in snow or basking in sunlight. It’s a good time to catch up with local friends as well as immerse ourselves in big projects, but it’s also good to take a break from the big project and the chilly temperatures. We’ve headed to the Sunshine State to do just that. We’ll hobnob with friends, soak up some Vitamin D, and sail away on the Brilliance of the Seas to Western Caribbean adventures and opportunities to dance the night away!

I’ll be the bad guy and crack the whip. You have been on break long enough, time to get back to blogging. 🙂

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
