Happy Equinox

Family

It’s just started snowing! The Winter Weather Advisory says we could get up to two inches but we don’t believe it. And if we do it will be washed away by the rain that’s predicted for this afternoon. Nonetheless we’ve got plans to stay in today and continue work on our massive digitizing project with a view of the bare winter landscape from our deck and windows. Tomorrow afternoon is supposed to be sunny and warm, just right for going out and about on errands and enjoying the sight of the the daffodils and Bradford pear trees in bloom and celebrating the coming of Spring!

We did, indeed! And there are good opportunities here also. While it was snowing all day, though not sticking, we headed out to the hot tub for a soak amid snowflakes falling!

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
