Tonight was Opening Night of the 50th Season at the Porthouse Theater in Cuyahoga Falls OH and thanks to Emily we enjoyed front row seats for Anything Goes! It’s a delightful madcap story that first opened on Broadway in November 1934. It’s based on a book by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse with music by Cole Porter, lots of fabulous dancing, and lavish costumes. We especially enjoyed Hope Harcourt’s blue feathered gown knowing that Emily hand stitched each of those feathers in place. We met up with Emily for a few minutes at the reception at the pavilion then took our leave so she could schmooze with other members of the production company as a good intern should.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
