Remembering Mother and Dad

Family

It was in Cincinnati in the late 1940’s that Bud, a WWII veteran and college student, came home to his parents’ home for summer break and met Cathie, the girl next door. Little more than a year later they tied the knot and moved first to Columbus OH, then to Evansville IN, Louisville KY, St Petersburg FL, Cincinnati again, Arlington TX, Santa Fe NM, Zephyrhills FL, and finally to Ft Worth TX. Along the way they raised six children who are spread across the country in NC, FL, TX, and CA. Their twelve grandchildren and four greats are even more widely spread. Today was a day for us, their children and their families as well as nieces and nephews, to gather together in Cincinnati, at St Rose Church on the Ohio River to celebrate their lives and at Spring Grove Cemetery where they will be at rest near family members in a plot that has been in the family for nearly 180 years. We continued the celebration at a reception where we ran a continuous slide show and everyone took turns watching and telling stories remembering Bud and Cathie and all the fun family times we have had together.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
