Not So Out of Practice

2018 Northeast, Road Trip

In the four years we’ve been Geocaching, we’ve logged more than 750 finds. Some have been easy to find, Park & Grabs, others have required long treks cross country or along trails through the woods. Yet others have been urban finds, usually tiny containers, that require great stealth to retrieve without attracting attention. We haven’t been active recently though, until today. We stopped at a rest area and went in search of a cache. For a while it eluded us and we commented that we must be out of practice. Then suddenly our geosense kicked in and we found the cleverly disguised container out in plain sight! At the next rest area we scored two more finds without difficulty. Guess we’re not too out of practice!

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
