Today’s route from Cormaddyduff, Co. Cavan to Ballina, Co. Mayo could have been an easy two and a half hour drive but instead we decided we wanted to go by way of Donegal! That route took us into the the western part of Northern Ireland. Along the way we stopped to visit with a huge flock of sheep who all came running to the fence to see if we were offering good things to eat, at a little wayside picnic area to pick a couple of brambleberries, and in the town of Enniskillen to take a few pictures.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
