To the public in 1869 the concept of crossing the continent by rail in a mere two weeks must have seemed much like a trip to infinity. Perhaps even To Infinity and Beyond? Just a few miles north of The Golden Spike Monument is a Rocket Garden on the grounds of a Northrop Grumman facility that was once ATK Thiokol in Corinne, Utah. Wish we’d been prepared to stop and explore it. Nonetheless it was fascinating to see the juxtaposition of the cutting edge technologies of the two eras!
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Over a long weekend we sampled some of the myriad things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, unique among national parks for it’s environmental reclamation, historic preservation, and recreational opportunities adjacent to the populous cities of Cleveland and Akron in northeastern Ohio. Can’t wait to return and explore more.
