Point Wilson Light

2018 West, Road Trip, Washington

Fort Worden State Park, just outside Port Townsend, Washington was the location of a T@B gathering earlier this month. We contemplated making the drive from Spokane to Port Townsend in six days to join the festivities but didn’t care to move that fast. Instead we pulled into the park today and booked a site in the Forest Campground for two nights. Late in the day we moseyed over to the Beach Campground in search of some folks we met earlier this summer that had plans to campground host near here this month. We didn’t find them but drawn by the sight of a glacier clad mountain to the north, we did discover the historic Point Wilson Light in luscious late afternoon sunlight! We wandered the beach and the grounds of the lighthouse reveling in the sights and smells of the beach for quite a while before retreating to the warm comfort of T@B in the forest.

Wish I was with you…. John is nearby, I really like Olympia, and the in-laws are in Shelton, just north. Claire know where all the good quilt and yarn shops are….

You will love Fort Worden. If you don’t want to camp they have quite a variety of other lodging options that look intriguing.

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
