Why do we find dams and hydroelectric power plants fascinating? Certainly it has nothing to do with one of us being a retired power generation engineer. The Rock Island Dam south of Wenatchee, Washington, his the distinction of being the first dam across the Columbia River constructed beginning in 1930.

It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
