This has been our second stay at Newhalem Campground in North Cascades National Park in Washington State. This time we stayed three nights in Site A6 and we still didn’t have enough time to explore the area. Next time perhaps we’ll stay in one of the other campgrounds. There’s a cute little campground adjacent to the company town of Diablo, right on the edge of the lake, and Colonial Creek is lovely, especially the waterfront sites. And there’s lots more possibilities we haven’t yet explored. Perhaps something nearer Washington Pass would give us a nice chance to do the hike to Cutthroat Lake. This “American Alps” park is still topping out our list of best places we have visited. We want to come back.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
