Winchester to Peaceful Pines

2018 West, Family, Washington

With a weekend coming up we thought it would be prudent to have a reservation so we consulted Allstays for an appealing place within a reasonable distance of Spokane. Peaceful Pines sounded nice so we called. They were full on Saturday. No, wait! Just eighteen feet? We could fit us into #6 which is technically a dry site but if we had a power cord extension, we could piggyback onto the pedestal on #7. Sounds good to us! We made the 131 mile trip and arrived early afternoon. Tracy is a delightful host and set up went smoothly. She did warn us that trains run nearby. Hopefully that will be fun.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
