By Way of Susanville

2018 West, Road Trip

After breaking camp in Lassen, we circled back around C Loop and stopped for one more visit with Jack & Dottie before heading to Susanville. Shall we say that getting our mail this time didn’t go so smoothly as we’d like? First there were the five phone calls before the new guy finally found our absentee ballots in the back room where they have been storing our mail. Then the tracking number they sent didn’t work, nor did the next one. Next we had to visit both post offices in town and go back to the first one again. When we did get our package we found all of our accumulated junk mail as well as the requested first class material. But the good news is, we finally have our ballots in a timely fashion. Yes! Now we’re on our way to Reno!

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
