Reunion in Battle Ground

2018 West, Road Trip, Washington

These are friendships forged back in 1970 at St Petersburg Junior College and cemented at University of South Florida. With George and Delores making their home now in Vancouver, Washington our opportunities to visit are infrequent and oh so precious. Today they made the trip north to Battle Ground State Park to join us for a visit in the T@B and then to find a geocache and to hike the Battle Ground Lake Loop Trail. It’s rated easy but the four of us thought it made our FitBits happy enough. We rewarded ourselves with some tasty sandwiches and salads as well as libations and Milky Way Chocolate Cake at Northwoods Public House in Battle Ground, Washington before returning to the T@B for more conversation. None of us wanted today to end. It was a fabulous day with precious friends.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
