This is our last stop on our trek across West Texas. What an amazing journey. It’s an amazingly vast landscape and a booming economy. Like the rest of the West, we see more and more solar and wind farms spread out where just wildlife and rattlesnakes made their home but here in West Texas we’re seeing more and more Nodding Donkeys/Oil Horses/Oil Derrick Pumpjacks and associated equipment And we’re seeing billboard after billboard advertising for workers as this area contributes to more affordable fossil fuel for the time being as we transition to renewables. Tonight we are in Abilene, Texas. We have reservations at the KOA just outside of town but before we head there we thought it might be a good idea to wash the dust off of our truck and trailer so we pulled into Super Suds Car Wash and administered a nice shower for both Eric and Sc@rlett!
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
