Sir Speedy

Family

What fun it is to watch the next generation make their mark in the world. Our nephew and his wife have an incredible entrepreneurial spirit. Since we’ve seen them last they have made a leap into the printing business and are owners of the Sir Speedy in Carrollton, Texas. At their invitation we stopped by this morning and got a tour of the operation and we’re amazed at the variety of materials on which they can print. Of course there’s the business cards, brochures, and booklets, but there’s baseball caps, and swag, wall murals, and vehicle wraps, and so much more. Pretty cool stuff. As we left them, we popped into Cindi’s Deli next door and got an authentic New York Reuben for the road. Yum!

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

London’s Canals

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
