Penn Station at Midnight

Family

It’s a major transportation hub in the middle of the city that never sleeps. We arrived just before 11PM, more than nine hours later than scheduled and we now have more than three and a half hours to wait until the last northbound Northeast Regional of the “day” on which we already have a reservation thanks to our favorite conductor, Ricky! There’s one more train after that and then the Big Board will be empty. We regret the lack of opportunity to patronize Kabooz’s, our favorite Penn Station eatery but perhaps we can catch on the return trip. We’re grateful for the Amtrak Waiting Area , and for the fact that the “T”, Boston’s transit system will be running when we arrive at South Station! What a way to spend the longest night of the year!

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
