It’s mid-winter and we’re digging deep into closets and pulling out papers in need of scanning and yarns in need of dyeing. The first project is an indoor project, ideal for winter days but the other is best on prettier days. Rain or bitter cold is less than ideal but we’ve got a pretty day today, lots of dyes squirreled away in the dyeing supplies box, skeins and skeins of yarn, mostly hand spun but a few commercial ones too. A commercial skein of worsted will be a good starting point. Then there may be some deep brown colored Welsh Black Mountain needing a color boost as well as myriad mini skeins of handspun of various varieties of wool created over the last twenty years. Today will be a start and hopefully the dye pot will get lots of action over the days and weeks to come!
Winter Magic in Medina
By deliberate choice we were in Medina for all the winter holiday festivities from Candlelight Walk in the days before Thanksgiving through A Christmas Carol and A Celtic Christmas as well as an Alex Bevan Concert and a historic house tour all the way through Medina’s 31st Ice Festival but perhaps the highlight was the town hosting hundreds of folks whose homes and lives were devasted by Hurricane Helene at the A Promise of Christmas Event the middle of January. It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing community!
