Bentley’s B-M-L Diner

2019 West Again, Michigan, Road Trip, States

In business in the same building for 98 years and in operation at the same location on State Street in St Ignace, Michigan since 1940, this “Best L’il Diner on the Straits” is a gem. Looking for a cup of coffee and a treat, we never even looked at the inside of the menu because the pie offerings were posted on a whiteboard. Steve chose Blueberry Rhubarb and our server suggested Karen try Fruit of the Forest, a mixed berry pie that reminded us of a great piece of pie we got in Custer. The ambiance, the service, and the pies were all superb! Thanks, Francie at the museum, for suggesting this great place!

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
