üCamp19 Leftovers Day

Family

It’s an annual üCamp tradition that at least a few of us linger as the campground empties. It’s a flurry of last minute sharing of contacts, making of moochdocking plans, and promises to see each other next year if not before. This year the two of us had the complication of needing to move our T@B to higher ground. Thank you, Nate, for bringing your personal John Deere tractor to Winklepleck and extricating so many, including us! Five of us headed into town for lunch at Honey Bee Cafe and to get some delicacies at Swiss Village Bulk Foods. Back at Winklepleck things had quieted down and we all moved our chairs to the basketball court for casual conversation. Ultimately rain chased us under the pavilion. Like last year we shared snacks and drinks but unlike last year we didn’t ever get around to ordering pizza. Maybe next year we’ll have better weather, more of the regular Leftovers will linger, we’ll get pizza, and have a campfire but even without the usual trappings, we all enjoyed relaxing in the afterglow of another great teardrop gathering.

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
