Bodega Victoriana Winery near Glenwood in Iowa’s Loess Hills just east of the Missouri River is our Harvest Hosts location tonight. We parked in a fairly level spot in their large and all but empty parking lot and headed up the stairs to meet our host, Doug who helped guide us to a couple of excellent wine choices, Drunken Sailor and Bull’s Blood. That plus a Charcuterie and Cheese Board, Adirondack Chairs, a cool breeze, and the music of a waterfall is a wonderful way to end a travel day and celebrate a Friday evening. A little later our hostess, Brenda toured our T@B then offered us some icy Sangria and urged us to make ourselves at home. So in the cool of the evening we enjoyed a walk around the pond then lingered on the upper deck as the sun slipped below the horizon and solar powered little lights lit up the table top.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
Lovely post! Great descriptions and photos capturing the mood! I would not have thought of Iowa and vineyard in the same sentence before, but will be looking for some Sangria whenever I go to Iowa in the future.
