Choosing a route across southern Oregon means traveling through The northern reaches of the starkly beautiful and sparsely populated Great Basin Desert also referred to by geologists as The Basin and Range Province. Long highways and vast open spaces are dotted with just a few small towns. Because we didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to do laundry over the weekend, we now found ourselves looking for a campground with laundry room. And there it was, out in the middle of nowhere, several miles from Silver Lake, Oregon. Ana Reservoir RV Park with 24 sites had the amenities we were looking for. With full hookups and a 2 washer/2 dryer laundry room we’re leaving here ready for several more days of off grid camping! We absolutely loved the sunset and this morning’s sunrise with glorious colors in every direction as well as the beautiful blue of Ana Lake in the distance. The afternoon heat with almost no shade and the fierce mosquitos made hanging outside not so comfortable but we definitely feel grateful for the entrepreneurial soul who built and maintains this sanctuary here in the Great Basin.

Winter Magic in Medina

Winter Magic in Medina

By deliberate choice we were in Medina for all the winter holiday festivities from Candlelight Walk in the days before Thanksgiving through A Christmas Carol and A Celtic Christmas as well as an Alex Bevan Concert and a historic house tour all the way through Medina’s 31st Ice Festival but perhaps the highlight was the town hosting hundreds of folks whose homes and lives were devasted by Hurricane Helene at the A Promise of Christmas Event the middle of January. It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing community!

Savoy at Sea 2025

The warmth we anticipated when we headed to the Caribbean in mid-January didn’t really materialize but the fun we had with our dancing friends and the great crew of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander more than made up for the not so favorable weather.
