On Chicken Dinner Road in Caldwell, Idaho, we found a treasure in the form of Huston Vineyards. As members of Harvest Hosts we were welcomed and made to feel at home. In the Tasting Room we sampled five amazing Idaho wines and decided to purchase some Chicken Dinner Rosé and some Syrah for sharing later. Ina guided us through the various wine choices and engaged in delightful conversation. Now after conversations with Mary and with Greg and fun encounters with their dogs, we’re relaxing near some Merlot grapevines bathed in the sunset’s glow and near perfect temperatures with fields all around and mountains in the distance.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Over a long weekend we sampled some of the myriad things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, unique among national parks for it’s environmental reclamation, historic preservation, and recreational opportunities adjacent to the populous cities of Cleveland and Akron in northeastern Ohio. Can’t wait to return and explore more.
Later that trip we gifted that bottle of Syrah to our daughter-in-law who was exceedingly impressed and was gracious enough to share it with the rest of us. A few days ago we went online and ordered another three bottles to be sent to her this week as she and our son are practicing social distancing and coping with two young sons at “Camp Stay at Home”.
