Passing through Riley

2019 West Again, Oregon, Road Trip, States

Today’s route from Ana Reservoir RV Park to Crystal Crane has taken us through some wide open spaces around Table Rock Mountain along Christmas Valley Highway in the northern reaches of the Great Basin desert. This time we knew that we’d find a little oasis in the desert in the form of the town of Riley, Oregon. Back in 2014 we’d stopped here ever so grateful for a fuel stop opportunity. With plans today to fuel up in Burns, a few miles east of here, we stopped at the Riley Store for a few provisions. Arriving just after us was Alice traveling in a 2019 T@B 400! Who would have expected two T@B 400s to rendezvous in this minuscule town of just two buildings here on US-20?

Burgh House Hampstead

Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history.
