And a Piece of Wedding Cake

2019 West Again, Missouri, Road Trip, States

Our Anniversary celebration always continues with a Steak & Eggs breakfast the next morning. There’s a story behind the tradition. And there’s a challenge when you are on the road and in a different location every September 1st to find a restaurant that serves Steak & Eggs. This time the Yelp! App helped us find Little Richard’s Restaurant in Independence, Missouri. It’s one of those traditional independent eateries that are popular with locals and doesn’t need it’s own website. It was just what we wanted. Although Steak & Eggs was not on the breakfast menu, when we asked if it was a possibility,  answer was, “Absolutely! Do you want NY Strip or Ribeye? 8 ounce or 10 ounce? How do you want it cooked?” In fact it just might have been the best Steak & Eggs breakfast we’ve ever had. And because she knew it was part of our anniversary celebration, our waitress presented us with a generous piece of Strawberry Wedding Cake to go!

Absolutely! Just got back from a long stay in Glacier, then up to Banff for a couple days. Also have enjoyed reading about your travels and visited attractions out south and west as we are headed south and west in November for a couple months. Love the “daily blasts” you send out.

Wow! A long stay in Glacier sounds luxurious. We need to plan a trip that involves some longer stays. And Banff! Hopefully we’ll get there one of these days.

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
