Valley Pasture Farm

2021, Road Trip, States, Wisconsin

Last night we had the distinct pleasure of being guests of Katie & Scott at Valley Pasture Farm in Elk Mound, Wisconsin as a part of the Harvest Hosts program. We are so grateful for the opportunity to renew our annual membership year after year and thus have access to this amazing network of small businesses that agree to let us become new customers and also to stay overnight on their property. This ambitious couple raise goats as lawn mowers and zoo pets, sheep, beef, pork, and chicken for food. In the fall they host a Fall Pumpkin Festival complete with a pumpkin patch, corn maze, petting zoo, and apple cider. Katie and Tank, the family dog, took us on a walking tour of the farm and gave us an opportunity to purchase some of their food products. We’re leaving here this morning with a freezer full of lamb and some great memories.

In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
