Dad’s Day

Family

With all the festivities of Dance/Graduation Weekend and üCamp22 behind us, we joined Dave, Amy, and family Sunday for a quiet Father’s Day celebration beginning with a sumptuous charcuterie brunch, afternoon naps for all the adults, and a delicious grill night topped with slices of Uncle Joel’s Chocolate Pie. The fun continued on Monday as we visited a lapidary artist in the neighborhood then headed up to Canton for a day of shopping with the girls. It’s always a delight to be able to park our own bedroom in their driveway for a couple of nights and enjoy a low key visit. Now we’re off for a four night trek to northern Wisconsin with some fun visits and adventures along the way. Life is good.

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
