Heading South

Full-Time Travels

As we’ve gone about establishing residency in northeastern Ohio this past month, the subject of cold winter weather has repeatedly come up. Our response has been to quip, “Yes, but we have an escape pod. We intend to head south.” The time has come. We’ve successfully completed all the tasks necessary to become official Ohioans, added several more cold weather garments to our wardrobes, learned to take our boots off when we came in out of the snow, discovered how much propane we can burn on sub-zero nights to assist the Alde heater in the trailer, and discovered more delights in this region. Now that the holidays have come to a close and folks are starting to head back to work and school it’s time for us to embark on our full-time adventures. We’re leaving in chilly misty weather hoping to see the sun again. We’ll be in Virginia tonight and South Carolina tomorrow. Happy New Year, Everyone!

We will, although it’s not likely in the immediate future. We’ll be skirting your state to the east and then to the south this month.

We will! Though probably not this month. We’ll be skirting you to the East then to the south in the near future.

Good luck to you two wandering souls. I’m certain I could never get my wife to agree to do the same. And I’m not sure I want to either! 🙂

It’s not for everyone but we figured if we didn’t try it now, when we’re in between residences, we’d never know if it’s right for us. And we do fully expect to to settle down again sometime in the future.

Burgh House Hampstead

Burgh House Hampstead

Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
